The disease manifests itself gradually: slight redness, small pimple. Slowly creeping, seborrheic dermatitis (picture 2) covers an increasingly large area. The lesion is progressive in nature and, like allergic dermatitis, is accompanied by itching, sometimes even too intense.

Seborrheic areas with red spots are covered with other plaques outlined by a clear border. Further, dermatitis on the head is covered with small oily scales. The disease that affects the skin is generally symmetrical: seborrheic dermatitis (images below) on the forehead, nose, cheeks, is the same. Dermatitis on the head, located in the behind-the-ear folds, causes a pathological process: constant weeping, sticky crusts, cracks.

Increasing, according to the peripheral direction, seborrheic scalp dermatitis (picture 3) in the center can have completely healthy skin. For a short period, the curls become very oily, stick together.

Scalp dermatitis (pictures in the gallery) is fixed by a specialist as the presence of yellowish scales with a fatty type, and dandruff with a dry one. There are frequent cases when seborrheic dermatitis on the head of adolescents causes the problem of partial baldness. Fashionable cosmetics, by the way, causing contact dermatitis, newfangled shampoos, and hypothermia of the head in the cold, can be the fault.

In especially serious cases, actively manifested ear dermatitis (pictures in the gallery), behind the ears.

The exact cause of the disease in babies is unknown. It is believed that seborrheic dermatitis in infants (picture 5) can develop if some factors converge:

  • due to genetic disorders, malnutrition, frequent diseases;
  • hormonal imbalance;
  • activation of skin fungi.

Seborrheic dermatitis in infants causes an accumulation of sebaceous crusts. At first, the disease is a bit like diaper dermatitis, in which redness also appears in certain areas. Seborrheic dermatitis in children (photos below) covers clearly defined plaques of the neck, face, scalp, and behind-the-ear areas.

In addition to the head, also occurs fungal dermatitis (picture 6) on the body. The initial stage of dermatitis, progressing extremely slowly, can give only symptoms: itching, redness. Fungal dermatitis on the back is localized mainly in the area between the shoulder blades.

Many believe that itching in this place can cause neurodermatitis – atopic dermatitis, which has frequent exacerbations, accompanied by itching and rash. The progression of the disease is marked by the appearance of scales. Gradually, plaques form from the scales, sometimes reaching quite a large size. Fungal dermatitis on the body, progressing, grows over a huge area.
